Peak
In the book Peak it is about this 14 year old kid named Peak that is going to try to scale Mt. Everest.
In the beginning of the book Peak is climbing a skyscraper in the winter and all of a sudden a police helicopter flies up to where he is and tells him to stop climbing immediately. Peaks face is frozen to the skyscraper so they have to help him off of the skyscraper. When he gets to the ground he is met with people who want to prosecute him. He goes to court and he is getting tried when his dad (Joshua woods) a famous climber of Mt. Everest steps into the room and offers to take Peak back to China and get Peak out of their hair. They eventually agree to this and Peak goes to China. His dad has other plans than to just go to China. Joshua offers Peak a chance to summit Mt. Everest and to be the youngest person to summit the mountain. Peak eagerly agrees and heads to the base of the mountain. When they get there they are met with other people that will be joining him Sunjo and Zopa. They are practicing on the lower parts of the mountain when the actual crew of climbers that Joshua is taking to fund Peaks expedition finds out and wont let Peak climb. Peak is removed from the mountain and is "heading home" when the car stops a mile down the road and they get out to go a different way up the mountain with Sunjo who is also 14 but 2 weeks older than peak and with Zopa and two others. They make their way to the top and right when Peak is 20 feet away from the top he decides to let Sunjo summit it instead of him. Peak asks Sunjo to place a prayer flag on the pole at the top that has a blue mountain with yellow background which peak has put on top of every skyscraper he has climbed. Peak turns around and goes back the way he came and when he meets his father he tells him and says he wasn't meant to make it. That makes the end of the journey to The book Peak. |
